Program Flexibility
Daytime programs begin every fall and spring semester.
Expertise
Navarro College uses instructors who are experts in their field. Instructors are members of the Navarro College family and include full-time and adjunct faculty. All are experienced paramedics either currently employed or retired. Each instructor is interviewed and chosen based on their knowledge, command of subject matter, and instructor certification.
Available Resources
Navarro College has the ability to provide all necessary resources to help make a class successful. New computers, textbooks, curriculum, and other instructional equipment are available to help ensure the highest quality instruction.
College Credit
All classes are credit classes and students finish with 34 credit hours.
Degree
Paramedic Certificate hours apply to the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Paramedic Degree.
Prerequisites

Must have current National Registry Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Certification

Be Texas Success Initiative (TSI )Complete

American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Healthcare (current through duration of program)

Successfully completed Anatomy & Physiology (BIOL 2401/2404). A glossary defining terms related to Course Sections is accessible on the Catalog Course Description page.
Tuition
Tuition for the Paramedic program is approximately $6,800. The tuition is based on Out-of-District rates. If you live In-District (Navarro County) tuition may be less. Malpractice insurance included.

Current Immunizations
(Submit an email request to the EMS Program Coordinator for a Castlebranch link)

Hepatitis B: Complete series of three or Positive Titer**

Tuberculosis Test: blood test required yearly or inquire about skin test

Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Series of two immunizations needed or Positive Titer**

Varicella: Two immunizations or Positive Titer**

Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (TDAP) - immunization must be current within 5 years

Must be completed prior to enrollment if vaccine expires during enrollment.

Influenza: Current season immunization for Fall and Spring Classes
(Info required: name, date, lot number, site of injection, signature of person administering the vaccine.) -
Medical Release Form. The form is inlcuded in the registration packet.
**Titers to include Immunoglobulin G (IgG) Lab value and interpretation key.

Uniform Guidelines
Uniforms are required to be worn daily throughout the program. Navarro College EMS uniform:

Drug Screen / Background Check

Students must make account with CastleBranch (outside entity), which includes your background check and immunization compliance tracker. Durg Screening occurs after courses have begun. Non-compliance with either may result in student being dropped.
Social Security Card
A Social Security number is required for EMS clinical course requirements.
Additional Considerations
Successful program completion grants eligibility to sit for the National Registry Examination. Program completion does not cover additional licensing, certification, or fingerprinting fees or guarantee certification or licensure through these separate entitites. Individuals are encouraged to contact the National Registry and/or the state in which they seek licensure for further information.
